Hommel Elementary School

Mrs. Sosa’s class has been exploring how pioneers settled the West in the 1800s, and students brought their learning to life by creating their own wagons!

Hommel Construction Club finished their semester projects! These students did an amazing job and learned some very valuable new skills!

Hommel's Site Based Decision Making Committee was given the opportunity to walk through and discuss current construction progress. We are all very excited about our building's new additions.

Hommel Construction Club is getting closer to finishing our semester projects! It has been amazing to watch these students build problem solving skills, self- esteem, resiliency and pride in a job well done.

Our Hope Week theme this year is
Hommel Hope Week: Having a Blast…Spring Break Edition.

Monday – Take me away on a tropical Vacay! Wear Hawaiian shirt/ beach gear (no swim suits).
Tuesday- Cozy, Calm, Cool and Collected – Wear sweat pants
Wednesday- Traveling the World and taking notes - Wear ‘tacky’ tourist style
Thursday- A day in PJ’s would be a lifesaver! Wear school appropriate Pajamas.
Friday- St. Patrick’s celebration- Wearing Green because we are all on the same team! Wear as much green as you can.

Congratulations to Mrs. Sosa's 2nd grade class. They earned a pizza party for having 45 days of perfect attendance for the whole class! Way to go!!

Hommel construction club reviewed the concepts of friction and grit for sanding, the reason we measure twice, and the amount of force needed to sink a nail.

Last week we held our Spanish Spelling Bee. Congratulations to our winners: Sol (1st), Jasmine (2nd), and Benjamin (3rd).
Sol will now advance to compete at the district level. We are so proud of all of our students and their hard work!

Hommel parents, please have your child check our Lost and Found for any missing jackets.

Mrs. Harkless's 5th grade science classes created sedimentary rocks today. They used the principles of erosion, friction, heat and compression in this fun and messy lab.

Hommel's amazing administrators are at it again! Mr. Seals and Ms. Beedle will meet individuality with every 3rd, 4th and 5th grade student to help them set personal goals for STAAR.
