Principal - Andy Utsumi

Dear E. Ray Elementary Family,

My name is Andy Utsumi and I am honored to serve all of you as the Principal of E. Ray
Elementary School. I am very happy and excited to work together for the betterment of
our students. This year promises to be full of achievement, productivity, and growth for
our students. Together, we will aim for excellence as we focus on student engagement,
maintaining a positive school culture, and rigorous instruction based on
standards-aligned lessons.

I have been working in education for the past 21 years, 18 of which have been in
Everman ISD. I completed my first year as principal of E. Ray, I served as the Hommel
Assistant Principal for 4 years and taught for 13 years at Bishop Elementary School. I
received my undergraduate degree from Arizona State University in Elementary
Education. In 2015, I earned my master’s degree in Educational Leadership from
Concordia University.

I strongly view education as a collaborative effort between parents, students, teachers,
and the community. I am truly looking forward to working with and fostering all students
to become the best individuals possible.

During my free time, I enjoy watching and playing all sports, as well as spending time
with my family. My wife and I have two teenage sons. I look forward to meeting you and
your family. You are always welcome to visit our school and meet with me. I am
grateful and elated for the opportunity to continue to build relationships with our E. Ray
families. The 2022-2023 school year will be full of wonderful new experiences for all of
us! This year’s theme will be “Building a Brighter Future.”
